Review: The ground beneath our feet, Leslie McAdam

The Ground Beneath Our Feet

The Ground Beneath Our Feet by Leslie McAdam

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book speaks about subjects that matter, it's a story about self acceptance and self love. It is about overcoming your past and taking the leap for your future.

Jessica is a young woman who is diagnosed as obese and with diabetic conditions. With ghosts from her past hunting her, she always seeked comfort in food. When she finally decides to start making choices to improve her life, and she moves to Santa Barbara, she meets Mikey, a hot veterinarian who sees her, really sees her, and won't stop until he gets the answer he wants from her. But Mikey also has a past to hide. Will they be able to heal?

The premise of the story was hooking, the characters were interesting, but unfortunately, and I feel really bad about it, I couldn't quite connect with it as pretty much everyone else did. I particulary am more fond of action than inner monologue and I think that's what maybe didn't do it for me. I like being showed what happens more than I like being told, I connect more that way.

Anyhow I still love Leslie's stories and I was really happy to see her other couples make an appearance in this book! It was fun to read.

I will continue to read her stories and follow her advice to take the leap!

Review: Hamlet, Shakespeare

Hamlet

Review: Evading Fate, A.M. Myers

Evading Fate (Hidden Scars #3)Evading Fate by A.M. Myers
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

REAL RATING: 2.5 STARS
TITLE: EVADING FATE
SERIES: HIDDEN SCARS, BOOK #3
AUTHOR: A.M. MYERS
GENRE: CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

This book is the third and final (?) installment of the Hidden Scars series and CAN'T BE READ AS AN STANDALONE unless you want to spoil yourself the plot of the previous books as happened to me.

I'm having trouble to write this review because I thought I'd love this story but I didn't. The premise was good but the development didn't live up to it, at least not for me.

BLURB

Fate.

I’ve been running from it most of my life – doing everything I can to avoid the future it had dictated for me. If I had learned one thing from the hell I went through as a child, it was that I never wanted to go back. Until I ran into someone who was running from her destiny just as hard as I was.

And it just so happens that she’s one of my best friends.

One night, emboldened by alcohol, she does something that has me questioning everything and it doesn’t take me long to realize that maybe instead of running away from something, I’ve been racing to her all along. But there is fear in her eyes and I know that her fate won’t be so easily shaken.

Will I ever be able to work past her fear to show her everything we could be? Or am I destined for the same kind of desolate life I’ve been fleeing from since I was a kid?

I enjoyed the first 40% or so of the story, I like the building of the romance between Addy and Trey though I really couldn't stand the heroine. There was way too much inner dialogue from her telling that she was sad because she wanted something really hard that she could never have. The first three times was okay, but when it kept being mentioned through the whole story it got to be annoying. You can mention it once or twice at most, the reader will understand. I really found myself reading some paragraphs as fast as I could to *kind of* skip those repetitive statements.

Regarding the characters, Addy is really hard to empathise with, she's always complaining about her 'fate' without actually learning if her fears are sustained or not, and she pushes everyone she loves away for an illogical reason. Trey himself was much more enjoyable the first half of the book, but then started acting as an ass*ole, and even when it was understandable that he didn't know what to do with Addy because she wouldn't open to him, I didn't like at all that he kept justifying his behaviour by saying "You make me crazy, Addy". I mean, it sounds pretty messed up that you can't control yourself and blame the woman for 'making you crazy'. I'm sure he meant it in a 'romantic' way, but it ended up being disturbing.
The secondary characters were more lovable than the heroes, for sure. Addy's friends were funny and loyal. And Trey's family is the sweetest and they're really supportive. I also fell in love with Addy's parents' story, I'd enjoy reading something from them.

In conclusion, this story was sweet for some moments, but the protagonists wasted so much time that we barely got to see their bright side together. I did enjoyed the beginning and the ending, but I rushed through the middle, not fancing it so much.

MY REVIEW

K. Webster and Ker Dukey have two of the most twisted minds I've ever known, man, they nailed this!

The story picks up where book one left, with all the chaos unleashed, and we start to learn (and confirm some suspicions) the background of Benny's madness. I really like that they didn't make me love Benny, they didn't justify his actions at all and that made the story more raw. I have to say that this book is darker, has more gore, is more graphical and intense. I literally had to stop reading at 40% because my blood pressure went down and I got nausea. Again, they nailed it!

It was also very interesting to see how they took Stockholm syndrome to a whole new level. Macy is seriously f*cked up, we knew it from the ending of book one but seriously didn't expect it to be like that. It was a surprise.
Jade is by all means one of the strongest characters I've come around. I seriously don't know how she endured everything. Girl, you deserve a vacation with all expenses paid!
And finally, Dillon is my babe, fine? Don't touch him 'cause he's mine lol.

I was expecting expecting the ending to be like that, though I seriously demand more, ladies!

To sum up, I have to say that Webster and Dukey are a great pair, their narrative flows good together, the style fuses and they make us gag and scream. Please keep working as a unit!

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected. I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up. My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling. When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister. REVIEW

R.S. Grey's best job at the time!

Rachel stories are well known for being hilarious romcoms that guarantee you a big laugh and swooning over the characters. She's got some very hot book boyfriends and girlfriends. Her sport romances are probably the best that I've read of the genre. But this, A place in the sun, is what I believe to be her best work to date. Away from the sports that are her usual brand, A place in the sun comes to make you fall in love with love and with her wit at writing.

Georgie Archibald, tired of her mother's pressure to find her the right match, but also wanting to find 'the one', at the best Georgie style scapes England and travels to Italy to find, of course, love. And as she steps foot in Vernazza she also sets eyes on Gianluca, a distant challenge boy that gets under her skin.

"Georgie, have you gone insane?" I smiled. "No, brother. All is well." "Then why on Earth are you in Italy?" "To find love, of course."

I have to say that Georgie is my absolute favourite character of all times from a Grey's novel. She's strong, independent, sassy, smart, funny and outgoing. She's driven, determined and a bit crazy. What's not to love?

Gianluca is an italian manly man, need I say more? Hot accent, hot abs, intriguing personality, yeah, I think you got me ;)

"To be in love with someone is to live inside them."

Either how, Georgie stole the show here! Bravo, girl!

Laughs are guaranteed very soon to the start and they'll continue through the story! Rachel knows how to entertain her readers! Her writing is smart, hooking and it flows. The pace of the book is mostly fast, once you have it between your hands you don't want to let go till the end.
The secondary characters are a very needed and well placed element, I have to say that I'm specially in love with Katerina, Georgie's best friend. And I like that because we are given strong female characters in this story and that's not something that I find so often in contemporary literature.
Through the landscapes of Italy we'll learn more and more about Georgie, Luca and their friends, we'll fall in love with them and accompany them through their journey.

"Don't you remember what I told you? You're my northern wind, my tramontana."

And speaking of landscapes, I NEED A TRIP TO ITALY RIGHT NOW, WOMAN! I seriously believe Vernazza should have Grey as their PA, because I certainly couldn't have fallen more in love with the place through her eyes. I felt like I was there. I saw the beaches, I felt the sun on my skin and heard the italians speaking in one of the most seductive romance languages right next to my ear. It was delicious to experience something so unique thanks to the beautiful and accurate description. Italy, wait for me!

"Italians all seem to believe that a few drinks and a good meal would cure any ill."

Summing up, A place in the sun is a very sweet read that won't want to miss! Join me and let's fall in love with Italy together!

Can't wait to read Rachel's next work!

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

Review: Tonic

Tonic Tonic by Staci Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was my first book by Staci Hart and I'd love to read more from her!

Tonic is a romantic comedy, it's a standalone and it reads fast! It's a funny story, one that will hook you easily, with a bit of angst for some moments and lots of love and passion. I read it in two days and I'd have read it faster if I've had the time.

I like Staci's writing style, she guided the reader with lots of action lines that keep the pace up.

Regarding the characters I want to say that I really like Annika's passion for her work, I like heroines to be smart and independent and she was one. Joel, the heroe, was swoonworthy, although he also was a drama king (seriously, Joel? Chill a bit! lol). He was really sweet and caring and he respected Annika's decisions.
The secondary characters gave the story a cute background, specially Anikka's niece.

In conclusion, this was a sweet read and I'm glad I met Staci's words at last.

Review: A Love Letter to Whiskey

A Love Letter to Whiskey A Love Letter to Whiskey by Kandi Steiner
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

BLURB

It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long.

Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us.

It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.

It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less.

But we can’t start here.

No, to tell this story right, we need to go back.

Back to the beginning.

Back to the very first drop.

This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it.

MY OPINION

Okay, so this is a very difficult review for me to write. I was confused when I finished it. I wanted to love it as I've love Weightless (her previous release), I thought I would, but unfortunately I didn't.

A Love Letter to Whiskey started great, and until 20-30% of it I enjoyed it a lot, and I had all the feelings. But after it I just couldn't get with the writing style, it's written as, precisely, kind of a letter, or even a journal. This means we get plenty inner monologues from the protagonist and less action. And I'm an action girl, I like being showed, not only told. So I think this was pretty decisive for me, because I couldn't fully connect with the characters.

I like B and Whiskey, I also hate them for some moments (lol, I know you wanted us to), and I even wanted to slap them really hard, because, seriously? Stop being unhappy just because! But they were cute and I wished I could have felt them deeper.

Anyhow plenty people enjoyed it a lot and had all the feelings, so whether you connect with it or not is something you'll have to discover yourself...

I myself can't wait to read her next story because I usually enjoy her writing and her mind and would love to discover what Kandi, who, no matter what, I really admire as a person and as a writer, has to offer us!

Review: The Silent Waters

The Silent Waters The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A review to the girl who made me cry

I feel there's not enough words to describe how powerful and soul shaking this read is, in the most beautiful way, may I add.

It's been a while since I read something that touched me so deeply, that made me ugly cry, laugh and fall in love at the same time. It's been a while since a book changed me. Therefore, it's also been a while since my last 5 stars read, but this book deserves all the stars in the sky.

When I signed to read this I realized I was going to be gifted with the possibility of reading a beautiful book, but it wasn't until I held it in my hands that I actually felt how excellent and moving this was going to be. When a book starts with a dedication of the author that says: "To the drifters like me who float away. To the anchors who always bring us home" you have to know that you are preparing yourself for quite a ride.

I read it in a day and a half and the more I read the more I needed to keep reading. There was a craving inside me of not letting it go without finishing. I needed to know what will happen with the characters that I got to love so deeply. I needed it to *almost* keep breathing:

It all began with a rocket ship nightlight and a boy who didn't know me

BLURB

description

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

If you start reading the synopsis you may think that this is a love story and it may be, but I'd say that most importantly, this is a story about love, life and changes. This is a story about not only a girl and a boy who loved each other but also about their families and friends who loved them. A story about fears and earth-shaking situations, about humans, about you, about us, about me. I could be Maggie May or I could be Brooks, I may even be all of them, and you may be them as well.

But I'll let you decide that, and for now I'm going to tell you about my journey with this powerful voice of Brittainy C. Cherry. I was new to this author, this was the very first book of hers that I read, but now I've already purchased two more (the previous books in this series, all can be read as standalones) that are waiting for me to pick them up and bring them to life again. I have to say that I'm in love with the poetical writing of Mrs. Cherry, her narrative feels like a classical song that I could hear over and over and it'd reverberate in my soul. It's not always, nowadays, that you find such a gifted person like her, she's talented and skilled. She obviously knows what she's doing with her pen, she's no amateur, she knows how to guide you into the story, how to pull the different characters' voices and to keep her literary resourses going on in a subtle way that you could *almost* not notice how beautifully and smartly placed they are.

The Silent Waters is told between two POVS, with the voice of Maggie May and Brooks.

description

When this story starts Maggie May was the most happy child you could find in this world, driven, romantic, with hopes and dreams, a lovely character to everyone around her but Brooks, who was a little boy not yet into girls. However, our Maggie was difficult to be turned down and little by little she approaches Brooks' heart. They're two little boys finding in each other their first crush and friendship. Until one day, one moment, things change for Maggie, her world is turned upside down (no, I'm not going to tell you why, you'll have to discover that) and she loses her voice. That voice that used to upset Brooks so much, and now he'll give everything he has to hear it again. And at the age of ten he promises to be the best friend he can be to her, he promises to be her anchor.

description

The story drifts between the two of them telling how their lives pass, how they grow together and how they grow appart, but the love between them always growing bigger. Ten years fly by and Maggie May continues not to speak or be able to live her life, she's scared to death of what happened when she was a kid, there's a magnetic and powerful voice inside her that won't let her discover the world. Brooks has stood next to her all this time, but now she knows it's time to let him go pursue his dream.

But sometimes dreams can become a nightmare and, again, lives can change within a second. This time is Maggie's turn to be his anchor, to help him see the light that he gave her. But in order to help him, she first has to save herself.

description

I loved both characters, Maggie May made me feel really sad for very long, but I could feel her, that little girl who was stolen her dreams, her hopes, her way to see the world. I could feel how she grew into a woman who was still a child, still scared. And I can't tell you enough how proud I ended up being of her. She was kind and loving, caring, funny even in her darkest, loyal and so, so strong, even when she didn't realize. And Brooks was a great boy with a golden heart, passionate and very talented. He was a protector. He was light, even when he only saw darkness.

description

Speaking of the secondary characters, I think they're all very necessary and smartly placed, from family to friends, the story wouldn't have been the same without them. They were the perfect complement to Maggie and Brook. The ones to show some of the biggest struggles as well. They represented real life.

So, to sum up, let's see:

*Great writing: checked
*Amazing story: checked
*Beautiful characters: checked

What's not to love of this story? The answer's nothing. I'm very grateful to the author for having written this story, for giving it a voice. It's a piece of art, thank you for letting me read it. It'll stay with me forever.

MY OPINION

"Home?", she asks. "Home", I echo. I know she's talking about a place, but I'm talking about her.

This is a difficult review for me to write, because I totally love it at some points (my teenager giggling version would probably give it 5 stars), but at some others I felt like things were missing.

description
"Have I told you lately that you're my favorite person?"

This is the story of Thea (19) and Xander (22), who wake up married in Vegas ', at first remembering little of the night. They are best friends and Xander happens to also be Thea's brother's best friend. They all have known each other since they were kids. Thea and Xander have been wanting to be together for years, but they have both denied it because of Cade (Thea's brother). It started as a promising and fun story, given that Xander was amused by the situation and wanted to stay married, but Thea wanted an annulment. At last, they come to an agreement: Xander has the summer to convince her that they are meant for each other and to stay married. Although they were both young it was very sweet seeing them develop their relationship and unleash their desires for the other.

Thea is a girl who is trying to discover what she wants do to with her life, what does she want to mayor at. She's funny even when she preoccupies too much, and loving.
Xander is the ultimate book boyfriend. He's charming, caring, sensitive, smart and good looking. I feel that his character and his struggles were a bit more developed than Thea's ones, because I believe I know him better. It was nice watching him grow and face his fears.

The story had me giggling at so many points. These two are so cute and I totally love them together, but I also felt there was something missing about how they had fell in love. This is book two in a series, but it also can be read as a standalone, given that book one is centered in Rae (Thea's friend) and Cade. Maybe there are some mayor hints about T & X, but I'm not sure of that and I feel that this being told as a standalone could have had some mayor explanation about it.
Problem number two, and probably the biggest one is that close to the finale a mayor issue was developed (I'm not saying what not to spoil anything to anyone) and took a big importance in the book. It was a subject that needed to be given importance, no doubt, and it probably also took some place in the first book (will read it to find out), but in this one had only been mentioned once in a slight way. So when it became the center of the story it felt a bit forced. To me it was like they could have been two separate story telling, and if not it should have been introduced as a part of the plot earlier on it to develop it better since it was a big deal.

All that said, I really enjoyed reading this novel, the writing flew easily, it was a bit poetic when needed and I didn't want to put it down. I still totally love Thea and Xander (I think I have a new book boyfriend) and would love to know more from them, maybe from their pasts or whatever the author would want to give us.

This was my first book of Micalea Smeltzer and it certainly won't be my last. I really enjoy her writing and the way she makes you feel as a teenager in love all over again!

There were also several quotes that I highlighted because they resonated with me. Here I'll leave you some:

• There is only so much you can do to help a person and the rest is up to them.

• Silence is the loudest sound in the world.

• In order to heal, you have to make that step and do the hard thing, instead of letting the pain beat you.

• Words and actions are just as powerful as fists.

Good plot, not so god plotting.

The book is narrated in two time spaces, present and past, and with two POVs (Kyle's and Garin's). It starts at their teenage years, introducing them and their best friend Billy, who live in a very poor neighbourhood and dedicate to steel and sell drugs to survive. Then it rushes to the present time where Billy has died from an overdose. Kyle and Garin haven't seen each other in more than ten years, since Paulie's (Billy's brother) death, but the funeral of him brings them both together again. Kyle, however holds a big secret that she can't tell no matter how much guilt it brings her, because if she did it would kill her. And she specially can't tell Garin. So, against her best reasoning, she accedes to have a drink with him and next she knows if that she wakes up in a cell, prisoned with Garin to her side. They have been drugged and she knows that the responsible for this is aware of what she did and is going to punish her for it.

So far so good, right? Exactly. The idea was very good, but how it developed was easy to guess, for a trained eye. Now I'm not going to spoil anything to you, don't worry. But I'm going to say that from the beginning I knew what her big secret was and I had a intuition of who had put them in that cell, because it was the most logical thing to reason by how and how many characters were presented. Then again, there was one particular POV that gave it completely away halfway through the story. When the book was coming to an end it took a twist and I thought "If it actually follows it this is going to be a great story to me because it'd have surprised me", but it indeed didn't and my thoughts on what her big secret was and who was the responsible for their prisoning were unluckily right.
That said the story became a little slow for me to read. I finished it no matter how, but I wasn't hooked.

About the characters I'll say that I liked Kyle as a person, but she annoyed me a lot repeating a hundred times that she had a big secret. The reader can understand that the first or second time and maybe it would have been better so see/feel how much it really affected her. Anyhow, she was a tough woman and much braver than she thought, so hats off to her.
And Garin is a well built asshole. I don't like his life style. I love the character.

To conclude, I really liked the ending, it's kind of an open one (not a cliffhanger) and it was the BEST part of the plot to me. If it had ended any different, if we had known exactly what happened I could have really dislike this. But I didn't.

I know this is a harsh review and by no means I intend to harm anyone's feelings. I know someone put all of her into this, it just didn't do it for me. I had a hard time writing this myself because I felt kind of guilty, but I wanted to be honest as I was asked. Summing up: YES, I like the idea; NO, I didn't like how it was developed because as I've said it was guessable and that changed everything for me; YES, I love the ending and YES, I'd read this author again.

I think Marni Mann has plenty potencial and a great mind, so I'd love to try something by her again. So don't let my thoughts stop you from reading it if this looks appealing to you!

Review: It Ends with Us

It Ends with Us It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

(Pronto también es Español)

There's not enough stars to rate this powerful read

image: description

This review is really hard to write because I don't really want to say anything that will give you the smallest hint of what this book is about. I was told to go in blind and it was the best advice I ever took.

Hoover you nailed it again and best than ever, this is your most beautiful, heartbreaking, powerful and healing book. No one besides you could have told this story with the beauty and care that you did.

This isn't a romance novel, this is a book about life. About many people's lives and it embraces them in a way that is as angsty as empathizing. This book is an eye opener. I'm not sure if Colleen has realized how much impact it will have, how many souls it will touch and change. This is one of those books that will completely impact on you. You will devour it and feel every single thing that the characters feel and then you will be thinking of it for days and days and days. It never stops, in the best way. IEWU is now a part of me and I will recommend it to as many people as I can.

Colleen has a way of narrating that makes everything flow, so beyond being a powerful read it is also a piece of art. It's delicate and delightful. It's poetry.

With any other book I would probably also talk about the plot and the characters but I won't do that here. The only thing I'll say will be about Lily and Alyssa, girls, I want to be you when I grow up, that's it.

And now I want to thanks CoHo for being brave and bold and such a great writer and human being. Thank you for writing this book. Every human being needs to read this.

Review: The First Taste

The First Taste The First Taste by Jessica Hawkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My first taste of Jessica Hawkins was delicious

description

The first taste is the second installment of The slip of the tongue series, though it can be read as a standalone. There are characters from the first novel that make an appearance though, so if you don't want to spoil anything you should probably read it first.
TFT follows the story of Andrew, a devoted loving single father, lover of bikes and tattoos (don't let this fool you, he's not an alpha j*rk at all), who was left four years ago by Shana (the mother of his daughter, Bell) and promised to never fall in love again. He's committed to his girl's happiness and wants nothing more from life than seeing her grow. That's why when Amelia enters his life she's the perfect match.
Amelia is the head of a Beauty PR agency, soon to be divorced from her cheating husband. Her work is her life and she plans for it to stay that way. A one night with a sexy, but not at all like her, mechanic could make no harm.
Problem is the chemistry between them is undeniable and soon they find themselves wanting more from each other. How will their 'no strings attached' pact continue when they jump into a second night and then a third one? Sometimes opposites attract and you can find your match in the most unexpected place. Can sex be just sex? No when you find yourself trusting someone in bed as you've never done it before.
This is the story of two broken people who were found by love when they least wanted it. They thought they were smarter, they though they wouldn't fall, but it was bigger than them. So what do you do when you find yourself falling for someone but you know you can't love? When past is too heavy you have to make a choice, will you let it go and embrace a beautiful present or will you continue to hold on to it and let your chance scape?
Jessica Hawkins surprises the reader with a very good built story, sweet, harmonious. The writing style is really good and catching, it makes it hard to put the book down. She guides you with baby steps through their lives, making you slowly discover the characters, understand their reasons and see them evolve. This is a really beautiful, angsty and heart-warming romance.
The secondary characters are a big plus to this story, making you laugh out loud and wanting to take them out of the book to hug them.
You don't want to miss their story!

MY OPINION

FLEETING MOMENTS IS AN UNFORGETTABLE STORY

Life is a collection of moments. Moments that we like, moments that we don't, moments that pass by and moments that change our lives.

Lucy's life is filled with fleeting, changing moments. She used to have the perfect life, a perfect husband, a good job, a baby on the way, but non of that was solid and everything can change in a minute.

A hostage taking at a sport event will change everything that Lucy knows. Alone there, she hangs on to the help of a kind stranger, who introduces himself as Hunter. He calms her, comforts her and then saves her life by taking her out of the stadium. But the day after, when she wakes up in the hospital and she asks for Hunter, to know if he's alive, nobody seems to know him and the doctors tell her she's suffering of PTSD's delusions.

Her husband doesn't believe her, neither does her mother, they believe she's going crazy, only her father doesn't, but she knows better. She knows Hunter exists, she knows he is out there and she won't stop until she finds him.
Something very deep inside her changed that day. Everything she witnessed, everything she had to endure broke something in her. Hunter is the only one who got her,  so what will happen? Will she be able to find him? Does he want to be found?

Danger and secrets surround Hunter and by chasing him, Lucy is getting in trouble, risking her life without even knowing.

This is a story of survival, of self rediscovery, along with suspense and a secret plot. The development of it is something that you will enjoy. You will not be able to put it down. Well written, it has a good flow and captives the reader.

Lucy is a taught woman, brave and loving. Hunter is a mysterious yet courageous and loving man. You don't want to miss them!

*WARNING ⚠: There are violent situations that could trigger emotions

Him or Me Him or Me by Veronica Larsen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3.5 stars, sweet friends to lovers read

I'm so glad I read this second installment of this duet of bite sized romances. I love this. I totally did.

The story is sweet, funny and adorable. I read it in one sitting. It makes a perfect summer, fast and light, read.

Grace and Heath are very funny people, they're outgoing and work together perfectly. I could totally feel their chemistry.

I also liked the details about the characters that were previously presented in this series. It was very warming to see their friendship develop.

If you're looking for a short, fun and sweet read this book is for you!

SYNOPSIS

I, Makayla Alexander, am on a mission to reinvent myself. So when a super hot guy boards the plane and flashes his rock hard abs, I pay attention. When he sits next to me and offers me his nuts, I can’t resist. But when I choke on them and he tells me I need to work on my gag reflex, I realize I might be in over my head. Before I know it we’re in the lavatory and attempting to join the Mile High Club. Let me just say this... anyone who tells you it’s easy to get it on at 37,000 feet isn’t telling you the truth. After the flight attendant busts us for getting frisky in the air, the only thing that can ease my total and complete mortification is the simple fact that I am never going to see him again. Hours later, I can’t help but wonder if fate will ever allow me to become a new version of myself. Because Fate, she’s a fickle bitch. Case in point... my seatmate is my new next-door neighbor. Even with the whole fate thing we have going on, we are so not meant to be together. He’s all cool and sexy in that make love not war kind of way. Guys like him are dangerous. With that bring-you-to-your-knees body, that handsome-as-hell face, and that dirty, dirty mouth, I guarantee one glance from him wets every girl's bikini bottoms. And then there’s me… the quirky girl looking to find herself in California. All I want to do is learn to let loose. Say words like peace and groovy. Bury my toes in the sand. Who knows, maybe even have sex on the beach. Unable to get him out of my head, I entertain the thought of being more than just friends. I know the idea is absurd. And yet, I go with it. You see Camden Waters gets me. Really gets me. Like no other guy has before. On this 7-mile stretch of paradise, I decide to keep things simple and just have fun... that is until fate decides to screw with me, again.
Can two people hell-bent on finding themselves realize the search should have ended the day they met? Find out in No Pants Required —a sexy, funny, romantic stand-alone, that will have you hurrying to grab your bathing suit and rushing to the beach to check out every lifeguard on duty.

SINOPSIS

Verán, Camden Waters me entiende.

REVIEW

*ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

When your whole established life goes to h*ll you need to do something, to change. Makayla takes the biggest risk of her life when she quits her job in NY and flies the country to LA, where a friend of hers is more than happy to receive her. Said friend made a list for her, a list to help her loose herself a bit. Plenty of sex related stuff are included, joining de Mile High Club is one of those 😉 So when your sit partner is a gorgeous man who looks at you as if wanting to eat you and reads your erotica novel out loud you just take the chance and go for it! But having sex on a plane isn't always easy and less more when you realize you actually know this person from before... Well, it doesn't matter because you're now off the plane and starting a new life. You won't be seeing him again, won't you?

"Moving forward the only way I know how... without regret"

This is the story of one lost girl and one lost boy, with broken hearths from their pasts, a hot summer and loads of expectations. Will they find each other? And most importantly, will they find their selves? Can fun and real life go together?

'"Go to hell"
Baby, I'm already there'

I enjoyed reading NPR very much! The author mixes fun with self discovering in a way that makes you want to keep reading until you finish it! You won't be able to stop!

Totally recommend it! Can't wait for her next release!
